Global Photographers — The Milky Way
Each night, the Milky Way streaks across dark skies worldwide, glowing with stars and pink-orange dust. This beauty shines even brighter in the winning images of the 2025 Milky Way Photographer of the Year contest.
Now in its eighth year, the Capture the Atlas competition drew over 6,000 entries. The winning photos span the globe—from Easter Island’s moai and Taiwan’s Hehuan Mountain to Yemen’s Socotra Island. For the first time, a shot from the International Space Station, taken by astronaut Don Pettit, captures the galaxy with Earth sparkling below.

Manchester Foundry F37 — Mancunio
Ellen Ling and Craig Oldham celebrate Manchester’s history and humor in F37’s new typeface billboards. Inspired by a rare wooden street sign on St Michaels Place, F37’s new sans-serif typeface appears on six billboards across Manchester.

It'sNiceThat — Ones to Watch
Applications are now open for It’s Nice That’s Ones to Watch, the annual showcase spotlighting emerging creative talent across disciplines. The initiative champions rising artists, designers, and makers poised to shape the future of the creative industry, offering them a platform for recognition and growth.

Better Entry — Permit to See
Artist-run collective Better Entry presents Permit to See, a project featuring six artists from the art and fashion worlds, each given a film camera to document personal stories. Their undeveloped photos will be raffled online (9–16 May), with winners choosing to reveal or keep them private—exploring themes of visibility and ownership. Gaza-based photojournalist Majdi Fathi also contributes digital prints for sale, documenting life on the ground.
All proceeds will be donated to several nonprofit organisations providing humanitarian aid, education, and healthcare to children impacted by the crisis in Gaza.

Alex Chinneck — A Week at the Knees
For Clerkenwell Design Week in London, artist Alex Chinneck has unveiled A Week at the Knees, a new sculpture in Charterhouse Square inspired by his 2013 piece From the Knees of my Nose to the Belly of my Toes, which made it appear as if the front of a Margate townhouse had slipped off. On display through June, the new installation features a frame constructed from 320 meters of reclaimed steel and 7,000 bricks.
