The River Neath — Flow
Flow is a captivating short film and kinetic art installation by London-based duo Tom Wrigglesworth and Matt Robinson, known as Tom & Matt. Set along the River Neath in South Wales, the project transforms the river’s natural current into a living animation. Using 21 handcrafted wooden waterwheels, each fitted with eight intricately carved paddles depicting native aquatic wildlife, the flowing water brings these images to life in continuous motion.
This analogue approach, devoid of digital technology, emphasizes the fragility of freshwater ecosystems and the importance of environmental stewardship. Premiered on World Environment Day 2025, Flow serves as both a visual marvel and a poignant reminder that when the river stops, so does all the life it sustains.
